November 18, 2007 Farewell of Fr. Sebastian

On November 18th 2007 Fr. Sebastian was sent off from the Indian Mission by all his confreres. For the first time almost everybody who belongs to the Indian Mission came together for the occasion. Fr. Sebastian is going back to his home province. After seven years of work in India he leaves behind a well developed and still growing community. God bless him. November 14, 2007 Ordination to priest

Great joy for the Indian Mission of the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales. On November 14th 2007 Fr. Chandra Sekhar Pinapati OSFS was ordained priest by Mt. Rev. Dr. Gali Bali, Bishop of Guntur. Fr. Chandra hails from Andhra Pradesh and is the 11th Indian Oblate priest. Rejoice with us all. Find some pics of his ordination and of his first mass the day after! (click here for some pictures!)
October 19, 2007 Final Vows

Great joy in the Indian Mission of the OSFS. Br. Rayappa (right) and Mathias (left) commited themselves for life into the hands of Fr. Mathew Mukkath on October 19th 2007. Fr. August 31, 2007 Land in Eluru

On August 31st 2007 the Oblates of India acquired a piece of Land in Eluru, West Godawari, Andhra Pradesh. It is intended to build the novitiate on the property which you can see by clicking here. The new community will be called Brisson Nilayam "House of Brisson". We rejoice!

August 28, 2007 New Delegate Superior

Ft. Mathew Mukkath OSFS was appointed to be the new Delegate Superior of the Indian Mission. This is the letter, Ft. Aldino Kiesel OSFS, the General Superior of the DeSales Oblates, wrote:

Dear Fr. Mathew,

I am very happy to announce to you that the General Council decided to appoint you as Delegate Superior of Indian Mission until May 2009.
We are now seeing the fruits of so many years of dedication of several of our confreres to our mission in India. We are now starting a new phase of the Indian Mission, as you are assuming the function as Delegate Superior. We are very confident that you, Fr. Mathew, having the support and help of the Oblates in India Mission, will continue the process that is going on.
Don’t be afraid. Be assured of our prayers and our support. Let us serve the confreres with love and dedication. Let us be united in our spirituality and in our mission as Oblates of St. Francis de Sales. May God bless you!

May 29, 2007 Renewal of Vows

A great day of joy for the Oblates in India. 19 young confreres renew their vows and promise poverty, obedience and chastity according to our Constitutions. Father Aldino Kiesel, Superior General, receives the vows in Samarpanaram. He had also prepared the confreres preaching them the annual retreat. In his homily Fr. Aldino Kiesel stressed the importance of accepting one's own limitations: "We are not angels!", but we can love, because we are men of the Holy Spirit." (click here for some pictures!)

 
May 27, 2007 New Superior and Visit of Ft. General

On May 27th 2007 Fr. Sebastian Leitner was introduced into his new office as Superior of the community in Samarpanaram. he succeeds Fr. Shaju Kanjiramparayil who is preparing to go abroad for studies. Fr. Xavier Manchu will be the Treasurer of Samarpanaram and Director of Brisson Bala Bhavan, Fr. Reji Choorakunnel will be in charge of the Candidates at Samarpanaram. Many well wishers came to take the opportunity to meet the Superior General of the Congregation of the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales, Ft. Aldino Kiesel. During evening prayer he also introduced the new Superior of Samarpanaram into his new office. (click here for some pictures!)

 
May 26, 2007 Annual General Meeting 2007

On May 26th 2007 The Oblates of St. Francis de Sales in India had the pleasure of having the Superior general Fr. Aldino Kiesel present during their annual General Meeting 2007. A new advisory board was selected. Fr. Sebastian Leitner was reappointed Delegate Superior until May 2009. Fr. Mathew Mukkath (Assistant), Fr. Bala Swamy Dande, Fr. Maichael Eattathottu and Fr. Shaju Kanjiramparayil are the new Advisory Board members for the next two years. (click here for some pictures!)

 
March 31, 2007 Ordination to Deacon

“I have called you by name, you are mine” Is 43:1

March 31st 2007 was a great day of celebration for Oblate Asia. Most Rev. Ignatius Pinto, Archbishop Emeritus of Bangalore, ordained our confrere Chandra Sekhar Pinapati osfs to Deacon. "I have called you by name. You are mine." Amidst confreres and wellwishers the ordination took place in Samarpanaram. Rejoice with us and take part (click here for some pictures!)

 
March 6, 2007 A New Well is Being Dug
Samarpanaram ran out of water. And suddenly there was no more water. And we had to dig a new well. Thanks be to God we found more than enough water on our property! (Click here to see some pictures)
March 4, 2007 Visit from USA
A group of 16 (12 students and 4 staff members) of DeSales University visited during the week of March 4th to 9th Brisson Bala Bhavan, Samarpanaram, Suvidya College and Saint Francis de Sales College. Putting into reality the encounter of cultures, we share and we receive. What a blessing! (Click here to see some pictures)
January 27, 2007 Bruzily's Farewell
On Saturday January 27 2007 Fr. Bruzily Abraham OSFS left for the Phillipines to contribute some help to the new foundation in the Phillipines. Click here to see some pictures of his farewell from his community in Samarpanaram! We wish him a good missionary work in the Phillipines.
